Schmitz recently competed at the 2025 Kohl's National Scholarship Camp. He showed solid mechanics in the punt portion of camp and flashed potential in the field goal and kickoff charts. His overall score on field goals was 15 points and he produced a kickoff score of 95.07 points. His punt charts produced a score of 94.03 points. He charted several impressive punts with the biggest being 51 yards with 4.10 seconds of hang time. Schmitz attended the 2025 Kohl's Midwest Spring Showcase.
