With his showing at the 2026 Kohl's National Scholarship Camp, Tate Merbitz demonstrated he has the talent to be considered one of the top ball strikers in his class. He scored 30 out of 36 possible in field goals, 103.5 in the kickoff portion, and 101.8 punt chartings, respectively. His best distances reached 72 yards with 3.8 seconds of hang time and 54 yards with 4.6 seconds of hang time. He has worked hard since his last camp and he impressed the staff with his athleticism and focus on ball/foot contact. Merbitz previously showcased his skills at the 2025 Kohl's National Scholarship Camp, where he improved his command of the "A" ball and overall leg strength, scoring 19 points in field goal charting and achieving a kickoff score of 99.4 points. He also displayed consistency in punting with a big ball of 48 yards and 4.5 seconds of hang time. His performance at the 2024 Kohl's Future Stars Event further highlighted his potential, as he charted 8 points in field goals and connected on a 54-yard kickoff with 3.2 seconds of hang time.
