Heckard recently had a solid showing at the 2026 Kohl's National Underclassman Challenge. He scored 97.86 in the punt charting. At the 2025 Kohl's Southern Winter Showcase in Atlanta, James Heckard demonstrated a strong grasp of his fundamentals and mechanics despite the challenging weather conditions. His field goal charting yielded 12 total points. Kickoff charting earned him 100.9 points, featuring a top ball of 68 yards and a hang time of 3.8 seconds. Heckard rounded out his performance with 95.29 points and a best punt of 46 yards with a hang time of 4.1 seconds. Competing against top-level athletes, he proved he belongs among the stronger prospects.
