Vela recently competed at the 2023 Kohl's Future Stars Event. He has excellent hands and catches the ball with excellent precision. He has compact levers and creates spirals effortlessly. His biggest charted punt at camp was 45 yards 3.86 seconds of hang time. Vela had an excellent showing at the 2022 Kohl's Winter Texas Showcase Camp. He showcased a consistent drop and was equally as impressive with commanding his "A" ball. He set the ball well and had a clean operation with his punting technique. He charted several punts over 40 yards with 4.0 seconds of hang time. His biggest charted punt at the event was 48 yards with 3.98 seconds of hang time.
