Introducing... our NEW NATIONAL RATING SYSTEM - Kohl's NRS
( ...a message from Jamie Kohl below -or click on Kohl's NRS above to view Kohl's National Rating System)
- This system was developed to help college coaches find college prospects.
- Athletes with college potential are rated.
- Ratings are dependant on the number of times athletes are seen and performances reviewed.
- Ratings will be updated quarterly.
- Top qualifiers at our 2-Day Option Camps, Elite Camp, Off Season Camps, Private Lessons, and 4 Day 1-on-1 Training Camp will be rated.
- Over 97% of the rated athletes come from our Scholarship and Showcase Camps.
- The Scholarship Camp is the most accurately judged event in the nation with 3 days of raw numbers.
- The Showcase Camps bring the best in the nation together to perform drills in front of college coaches, a true indicator of being able to handle pressure.
- Kohl's NRS is something that will continue to help our athletes reach their goals.
In closing, College coaches please call Jamie 262-510-9010 for questions on prospects.

History and further explanation of Kohl's NRS
The Kohl’s rating system was developed to help the most qualified athletes get recruited and get national exposure to college coaches. We, at Kohl's have called and emailed every D1, D1AA, and D2 program in America to check our national ratings system and use it as a tool in evaluating prospects.
In 2008 Kohl’s campers will make up a large percentage of all NCAA D1 Scholarships recipients.
Important Points About Our National Rating System
(The words 'rate' and 'rank' are used interchangeabley here - athletes are given a star rating and are listed alphabetically in each rank.)
-
It helps to have multiple exposure opportunities in front of Kohl’s senior staff (Jamie Kohl, John Kohl, Andy Kohl, Nick Croak, and Snapper Coach, Kevin Garvoille). An example of this would be attending a teaching camp/private lesson and then a national camp. We can then more accurately rate/rank an athlete and also gain important background knowledge on an athlete. College coaches will ask us specific questions on a prospect. Kohl’s will be able to discuss with more detail and certainty on an athlete when we have seen a camper perform in multiple situations and circumstances.
- 97% of our rated/ranked athletes come from our National Camps (National Scholarship Camp and 2 National Showcase Camps). We like to see athletes compete in a large setting, or in front of college coaches, to see if they can handle the pressure of those situations. Performance in these settings helps solidify a rating/ranking.
- The National Scholarship camp is an invitational camp and we only accept qualified athletes (See qualifications under scholarship camp). The National Showcase Camps are open camps. They are very large and very competitive.
- For our National Ratings/Rankings we use objective measures like charted FG %, average KO and Punt scores at the Scholarship camp. (Ex: 80% FG with a KO average score of 110 is 5 Star Athlete, 70% FG with a KO average score of 100 is a 4 Star Athlete) We also use subjective measure of an athlete's performance in front of college coaches at our Showcase Camps, regular season statistics, and post-season awards when determining a final rating/ranking.
- The number one focus of a teaching camp is to learn and improve at camp. We do not want to change our philosophy or environment at our teaching camps. We DO, however, want to help the top performers get extra exposure for a good performance at a teaching camp.
- We will list top performers from our teaching camps/private lessons and consider them for our national ratings/rankings. Our teaching camps are the best way we get to know and evaluate a prospect as an athlete and as a person. We make recommendations to qualified athletes based on their performance at a teaching camp/private lesson to attend a National Camp.
- The number of athletes rated/ranked at our teaching camps will be based on the number of athletes in attendance at camp and how athletes perform in the competitions at the end of camp. (Example: In a camp with 25 campers we will rate/rank the top 5 prospects; in a camp with 50 campers we will rate/rank the top 10 prospects.)
- Kohl's NRS is intended as a guide to judge potentially qualified athletes for college kicking, punting, and snapping. It is NOT a guarantee of future performance by an athlete in high school or college. Kohl's NRS is NOT a guarantee of a college scholarship. Kohl's NRS is intended to be used as a great and helpful tool for college coaches to use in their recruiting process. It's intent is also to be used by athletes to see how they compare and measure up against the nation's best in their journey to achieving athletic potential and personal goals.
